About This Guide

Give Curiosity a Clear Next Step

You want home learning to lead somewhere: a story your child can explain, a number idea they can show, or a project they are eager to try. Finding an activity is only the beginning. Choosing the right level, preparing materials and knowing what to ask afterwards can take longer than expected. Curious Kids brings those pieces together in a practical kids learning activity book for ages 6–9, designed for children and the adults learning alongside them.

Every adventure follows a familiar route: Discover, Try it, Make it, Record it, then Check and grow. A clear explanation and example introduce the idea. Questions invite an attempt. A small project gives it a practical purpose, while a record page makes room for the child’s own work. Answer guidance then helps you discuss what happened and choose a useful next step. You can spread an adventure across several sessions.

The variety gives you reasons to return. Follow clues in a short story, build a word family, plan an original ending or explore tens and ones. Move into shapes, measurement, logical puzzles, shadows and plant observations. Creative projects and everyday skills add another dimension: design a bookmark, tell a comic through pictures, agree a turn-taking rule or practise asking for help. Choose the subject that fits today’s interest.

Support is built into the experience. “Start here” suggestions offer a gentler entry, while “Try more” invitations extend an idea. Children can speak, draw, write or dictate where appropriate, so a long written response need not be the only way to participate. Worked explanations, project checks and open-ended examples help adults offer a useful hint and leave space for the child’s thinking.

Your purchase also brings the practical tools around the book. The separate practice companion gathers the book’s working pages and answer guidance for selective printing. The parent planner connects weekly planning, activity tracking, reading notes and materials preparation in Excel or your own Google Sheets copy. Optional adult-operated AI prompts support preparation, with checking notes that keep you responsible for the final choices.

This is a home-learning companion you can use after school, during holidays or alongside your own learning plans. It offers a flexible starting point rather than a timetable every child must follow. Adult support and suitable materials remain part of the activities; readiness and interest matter when choosing where to begin.

Open one adventure, try the idea together and keep something your child has made or explained. That is the value of Curious Kids: a connected route from an interesting question to an attempt, a conversation and a next step you can actually use.

What’s Inside

A Connected Toolkit for Learning by Doing

Reading, Words and Original Writing

Become story detectives who put events in order, notice clues and explain a character’s choices. Word activities explore rhyme, word families, syllables, opposites and precise vocabulary. Writing invitations move from complete sentences and punctuation into descriptions, useful instructions and stories with a beginning, problem and change. Children have something specific to say—and a reason to revise it.

Maths, Measurement and Puzzle Thinking

Make tens and ones visible, explore addition and subtraction, build equal groups and practise fair sharing. A pretend stationery shop connects numbers to a familiar situation. Shape features, measurement, clock faces, equal parts and maps broaden the exploration. Pattern rules, matching clues, a paper robot and simple charts invite children to show how they reached a choice.

Science, Nature and Creative Projects

Investigate shadows, absorbency, movement, melting and paper bridges with adult support. Nature adventures invite observations of plants, seeds, leaves, weather and habitats. Make a symmetrical butterfly, a standing paper sculpture or a comic without words. Preparation notes help you gather suitable materials, and record pages distinguish a prediction from what your child actually observes.

Everyday Skills and Thoughtful Review

Practise packing with a purpose, planning a flexible routine, checking instructions, taking turns and asking for help. Each adventure includes questions, a small project and answer guidance. “Start here” and “Try more” options help you adjust the task. Project checks and reflection prompts turn a finished attempt into a conversation about what to keep, change or explore next.

Print the Working Pages You Need

Use the complete book for explanations and examples, then print selected pages from the separate Practice Activities and Answers companion. It collects the same Try it, Make it, Record it and Check and grow pages for convenience. Children can also use a notebook; the companion is an alternative printing arrangement of the book’s activities.

A Parent Toolkit That Keeps Things Together

Plan a manageable learning week, track adventures, keep a reading log and prepare materials with the included Excel workbook or linked Google Sheets template. Make your own Sheets copy before entering notes. The optional parent AI pack provides adaptable prompts for hints, reading-level adjustments and planning, with checks for the adult. Start Here and the resource viewer help you find the files and planner link.

  • Grandparents and other learning partners: Follow a familiar activity route and use the suggested questions to start conversations. You can read instructions aloud, offer a useful hint and let the child show their thinking.
  • Adults who want an organised toolkit: Keep the book, printable practice pages, reading log and learning planner together. Choose paper, Excel or your own Google Sheets copy to suit how you prepare and record sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I receive with Curious Kids?

You receive the English complete-book PDF, a separate Practice Activities and Answers PDF, a parent AI prompt pack in PDF and text formats, and an Excel learning planner. Start Here and Companion Resources provide the linked Google Sheets template and guidance. The practice companion repeats selected working pages from the book for convenient printing. This is a digital download; no physical book is shipped.

How do I choose the right activity for my child?

The intended range is ages 6–9 with adult support. Choose by current skills and interest as well as age. Each adventure offers a “Start here” option and a “Try more” extension. Read unfamiliar instructions aloud and accept spoken answers, drawings or dictation where useful. You can spread one adventure across several sessions.

What subjects and activities are included?

Explore story comprehension, word play, writing, number ideas, shapes, measurement, logic, everyday science, nature, creative projects and everyday skills. Examples include a story strip, a pretend bundle bank, a shadow investigation, a paper robot and a comic without words. Adults choose suitable materials and supervise the practical activities.

Are answers and project guidance included?

Yes. “Check and grow” pages provide answer guidance, explanations or sample responses, project checks and suggestions for a next step. Creative work can have more than one good response. For investigations, record what actually happens instead of copying a predicted result. The guidance supports discussion; it is not a mastery assessment.

Do I need to print everything or give my child screen time?

You can print only the pages you want, use a notebook for responses or have an adult read the instructions. The separate practice PDF collects the main book’s working pages and answers, so you can select them more easily. Children can carry out suitable paper and practical activities away from a screen. Printing and materials are arranged by you.

How do the Excel and Google Sheets planners work?

The planner includes Learning Week, Activity Tracker, Reading Log, Materials and Prompt Library tabs. Use the included Excel file offline, or open the Google Sheets link and choose File → Make a copy. A Google account may be needed. Enter notes in your private copy. Excel and Sheets are separate versions; changes do not automatically sync between them.

Is AI required, and does my child need an AI account?

AI is optional. The book’s explanations, questions, projects and answers can be used without it. The parent prompt pack is for adult preparation, such as drafting hints, adapting a passage or planning a manageable session. Children do not need an AI account to use the book. Adults must check any generated answers and instructions before using them.

Is this a complete curriculum, and how does it compare with the ages 6–11 edition?

This is an independent home-learning companion, not a complete school curriculum or an official NCERT/CBSE publication. It can sit alongside school learning or your own plans. The ages 6–11 edition contains substantial shared content, so choose the edition that best fits your needs rather than buying both expecting entirely different activity collections.
